SECTIONS
Participation in the orchestra depends on an audition consisting of two pieces of your choice, if possibile representing different styles and periods. Admission will depend on the result of the audition and available places in the relevant section.
If the chosen pieces require piano accompaniment, it is possible to bring your own accompanist; if you don't have one, please bring the piano scores, one of the conductors will read them first sight.
To fix an audition please fill in the form with your data.
Orchestra rehearsals are usually on Monday evenings from 8.15 to 10.45 pm, plus, once a month, an extended rehearsal on a Sunday afternoon/evening; the orchestra usually gives 6/7 concerts per year.
Students of the University of Bologna and Italian conservatories who play in the orchestra are eligible for attendance prizes that are awarded at the end of each academic year. You can find information about these in the Rules and Regulations.
SECTION LEADERS
Section leaders are chosen through competitive auditions and receive a stipend for their participation in the orchestra.
Auditions will be held in September 2022, and applications must be made by 12 noon on September 7 using this form. This year there are positions open for leaders of the following string sections: first violins, second violins, double basses; and for these wind instruments: first oboe, first bassoon, first horn, first trumpet.
For full information on the role of section leader and the selection procedure please see the regulations (Italian only).
The orchestral passages for the audition can be found here.
To participate in the Collegium Musicum you must become an Association member. The annual membership dues are 20 Euros for University of Bologna and Conservatory students and 40 Euros for non-students.
